Emily Kate Brewer, 81, of Elizabethton, has left us for a celebration with her heavenly family on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, and passed peacefully at her home.
A native of Royalston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Parker and Irene Mondale Bowers. She had lived in Elizabethton for 37 years. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Richard G. Brewer, March 13, 2003, and a grandson, Randall S. Brewer.
Survivors include six children, Richard and Lynn Brewer, Randall Brewer, Roger Brewer, Debra and Francisco, Colina, Darlene and Willie Parmer, Derina and Larry Turner and Tara Holsclaw, who was like her daughter; her sisters, Judy May and Donna Bradfrod; one brother, George Billings; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and her two granddogs and one grandcat.
She enjoyed camping, family gatherings and attending many church functions. She attended East Side Christian Church for several years until she joined Southside Christian Church. We would like to thank all the residents of East Village Apartments for all the kind gestures and compassion shown toward our family at this difficult time. To all our church families that have prayed for strength and peace we truly appreciate all of you. We would also like to thank Melissa Bartelson from the Choices Program for all the help she provided. A special “Thank You” to Dr. Vivian Clark for the amazing care she has shown to our mother. A special thanks to Caris Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our mother.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 9, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Mike Koruschak, minister, officiating. Music will be provided by Angie Buckles.
