Martin James Tipton

Martin James Tipton, 47, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 25, 2017, at his residence.
He was born in Johnson City, Tenn., and was the beloved son of Carolyn Pritchard Tipton, Elizabethton, and the late Bobby Jack Tipton.
Mr. Tipton was a carpenter. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Newland, N.C. He loved fly fishing and hunting.
Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his mother include two sons, Michael Tipton, Johnson City, and Matthew Tipton, of the home; two daughters, Marina Tipton, Roan Mountain, and Lilly Tipton, of the home; four grandchildren; and one brother, Ryan Tipton, Roan Mountain. Two nieces and one nephew also survive.
A service to honor the life of Martin James Tipton will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Pastor Mike Turbyfill officiating. Music will be under the direction of Charlotte Smith. The family will receive friends at the Rhododendron Chapel from noon until 2 p.m., prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Johnson-Roanview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
