Elma Rose, 94, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. Elma was born on August 30, 1922 to James and Hazel Elder in Fitzgerald, Ga. Her father was a Methodist minister and they moved to various churches while she was growing up. Later in life she married George Rose and they shared their life together in Florida. George Rose died in February 1989. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father and mother; a brother, Harry Elder; two sisters, Alice Elder Baker and Frances Elder Moore; and a niece, Hazel Ingel.
Elma moved to Tennessee in 1990 and loved the Tennessee Mountains. She was an active member of Valley Forge United Methodist Church. She enjoyed Sunday School, United Methodist Women, choir, and the Senior’s group. She especially loved singing in the choir and the trips the Senior’s group would take. After the death of her brother, sisters and niece, Valley Forge United Methodist Church became her family. She loved that family and they dearly loved her in return.
A special thank you to the staff of Ivy Hall Nursing Home for all the loving care that has been given to Elma over the last 5-1/2 years.
