Union Baptist
The Union Baptist Church Youth Ministry in partnership with area churches will sponsor Movie Night Thursday, Aug. 3, at the Stateline Drive-In Theater.
The movie “Woodlawn” will be shown at 8 p.m.
There will be no admission. Concessions will be available for purchase from the theatre management. Elementary age children must be accompanied by an adult. “We love young children, but please plan on attending with your child if he or she can’t drive themselves there,” said Union Baptist Pastor Wesley Duncan.

Piney Grove Free Will
The Singing Duggers will present a special program of music Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Lakeview Drive, Johnson City.
Everyone is invited to attend.

First Presbyterian
The pastor, the Rev. Dr. Brian Wyatt, will preach Sunday at the 11 a.m. worship service at First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethton. His sermon is titled “Loneliness.”
An education hour for all ages is at 9:45 a.m.
Other opportunities for the week include a time of Meditation Wednesday at 7 p.m.; the Thursdays with Jesus Reading Group Thursday at 10 a.m.; and Yoga Friday at 10 a.m.

Calvary Chapel
Calvary Chapel Tri-Cities will host guest speaker Larry Stamm at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday, Aug. 6.
Stamm was raised in a Reform Jewish home in Florida, and became Bar Mitzvah at 13. He always believed in God, but like many in his religious community, his experience was mostly a matter of social and cultural events and traditions. It wasn’t until he came to know Jesus in 1987 that his Jewish heritage found a deeper meaning within the context of a personal relationship with the God of Israel.

First United Methodist
“Nothing Can Separate Us” is the sermon topic for morning worship July 30 at First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton. The service will begin at 9:55 a.m. and the message will be delivered by Pastor Raymond Amos Sr.
Sunday School is at 11:20 a.m.
Sunday evening Bible Study is at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall as is the Wednesday night Life Lessons Bible Study.
The 4:12 Student Ministries, consisting of Junior and Senior High students, will meet Sunday from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. in the 4:12 Ministries House. The Coolagers will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Coolager Hut.

First Christian
Morning worship Sunday at First Christian Church of Elizabethton will begin at 9:45 a.m. with Minister Michael Klaus continuing his sermon series on the Book of Esther. The communion meditation will be given by Paula Manning and Kay Mathis will read scripture.
Promotion Sunday will also be observed Sunday. Children who will be promoted to another class will be recognized.
Bible school classes begin at 11 a.m.
The congregation will attend the Carter County Area-Wide Singspiration Sunday at 6 p.m. at Central Community Christian Church.
The Tuesday morning prayer service led by Minister John Smith will be at 10 a.m.
Wednesday. Teams will go out at 6 p.m. for visitation. A prayer time and Bible study will be held at the church on the Book of Colossians.
Friday, church members who wish will attend the production of “Liberty.” Members who wish to go will leave the church at 6:30 p.m.

Fifth Sunday Singspiration
The Fifth Sunday Singspiration, sponsored by the Carter County Christian Men’s Fellowship, will be held at the Central Community Christian Church outdoor pavilion Sunday, July 30, at 6 p.m.
The church is located at 137 Hopson Road, Johnson City.
Todd Wolfe, Central’s senior minister, will be the worship leader for this night of praise-filled worship, when area churches bring special music and the congregation sings to the Lord.

Valley Forge U-M
Valley Forge United Methodist Church, 3974 Highway 19E, will have a free school clothes give-away Saturday, Aug. 5, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
The clothing give-away will be in the church fellowship hall.

Unaka Baptist
Unaka Baptist Youth will host a spaghetti dinner Sunday from 12 noon to 2 p.m.. Tickets, which will be available at the door, are $8.
All proceeds will benefit the youth summer projects.

Lower Shell Creek
A Youth Rally & Revival will be held at the Lower Shell Creek Christian Church Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
The guest speaker will be Tommy Oaks from Knoxville.
Youth leaders who bring the most young people will receive a special prize awarded to them by their youth (youth leaders may want to bring a change of clothes with them.)
Entertainment will be provided by the youth in the form of old school events such as sack races, watermelon eating contests, and a three-legged race, etc.
Events will continue until 8 p.m. or thereafter.

Youth Sunday will be observed July 30 at Watauga Valley Free Will Baptist Church, Highway 91 in the Hunter community.
Josh Scalf from the Recovery Soldiers Ministry will speak at the 11 a.m. service.

Beck Mountain
Josh Wandell, Elizabethton resident who suffers from Lou Gehrig’s Disease, will be guest speaker at the morning worship service Sunday at Beck Mountain Baptist Church. The service begins at 10:45 a.m.
Since his diagnosis three years ago, Wandell has led a very public fight against ALS. The former athlete and elementary school principal said from the start he planned to battle the deadly disease with the motto “Faith Over Fear,” and his story has inspired people around the country.
The public is invited to the Sunday morning service.
The pastor is the Rev. Ronnie Campbell.

Bethlehem Lutheran
“In All Things, God Works for Good” is the title of the Sunday morning sermon at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Johnson City. The sermon text is Rom. 8:28-29.
Morning worship is at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Communion will be served at both services.
Interpreted services for the deaf are available the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

Happy Valley Baptist

Elk River
Homecoming will be held July 30 at Elk River Baptist Church, Butler. Services will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature special singing. Lunch will be served at noon.

Experience of Pentecost
Vacation Bible School at the Experience of Pentecost Church, 376 Coal Chute Road, has been rescheduled to Aug. 2-4. The Bible school, originally scheduled for Saturday, was re-scheduled due to a death in the church family.
Classes will be from 6 to 8 p.m.
There will be crafts, food, fun, and prizes along with Bible studies.

The Carter County Christian Women’s Fellowship will have Girls Night Out Friday, Aug. 4, at the First Christian Church in Elizabethton. Registration will begin at 6 p.m. with laughter to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Everyone is asked to bring their favorite salad for supper. There will be games, door prizes, a book exchange table, recipe exchange table, and lots of fun.
The group will also discuss service projects.
The meeting will take the place of the regular August retreat. Everyone is invited.
