Saturday, June 10

The Annual Decoration Day at the Oaks Cemetery will be held at 2 p.m. All family members and friends are urged to attend and participate in the annual business meeting. The cemetery is located on the Bear Branch Road in Roan Mountain. For more information, call Tull Oaks at 772-4226.

Food for the Multitude’s “Summer Spaghetti Splash” Dinner and Bake Sale will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton. Tickets for the fundraiser dinner are $7 for adults and $5 for children under 12. The meal will consist of homemade spaghetti, homemade bread, salad, cookies, and drinks. Carry-outs available or dine in. This is the primary fundraiser for this very worthy community mission to help feed the needy in the community on Saturday mornings. This event will be during Covered Bridge Days so enjoy the festivities, then come up the hill to Memorial and enjoy a delicious homemade dinner for a worthy cause!

English Country Dancing with Bob Thompson from 1-5 p.m. Guest dance instructor Bob Thompson will lead the group in English country dancing focusing on 4 primary dance routines from the period. A Country Breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy good food and great fellowship. The breakfasts, which are held every third Saturday of each month, consist of bacon, fresh ground sausage, tenderloin, eggs, pancakes, gravy and biscuits, cinnamon apples and more. Cost is by donation. The church is located at 878 Highway 81N, about five miles from downtown Jonesborough.

Rocky Top Gun Permit School will offer a handgun carry permit class at 135 Keenburg Road, Elizabethton, starting at 8 a.m. Ken Potter, a veteran law enforcement officer, is the instructor for the class. Rocky Top is one of the first schools to offer permit training and has been teaching the program since 1997. Cost of the class is $55. You will need to bring your weapon and 50 rounds of ammo. The Waters of Roan Highlands will be hosting a Bingo Night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for the residents, their families, and the local community of Roan Mountain. The Elizabethton Senior Dance Club will hold a dance at the Elizabethton Elks Lodge, No. 1847, 1000 N. Sycamore St., from 7 to 10 p.m. The Rambling Rose Band will provide music. Those attending the dances are asked to bring finger foods to share. There is a $6 door charge. The club holds dances the second and fourth Friday nights of each month. All seniors are welcome.
