For high school seniors around the area, this time of year is all about new beginnings.

And this Saturday, 146 Happy Valley students will begin a new chapter in their lives.

At 10 a.m., the high school will host its 2017 graduation on the Warriors football field.

“This is one of the finest groups that we have had come through here,” said Happy Valley Principal Bernie Young. “I am very excited about their scholarship opportunities. A large number of the graduates will be attending four-year and junior colleges.

“It has really been a mature, good bunch of kids,” Young added

This year’s valedictorians are Austin Jett Hicks, Amanda Eryn Howland, Kristin Leann Lyons, Jacob Lee Marshall, Katelyn Elizabeth Oakes, and Dustun Andrew Sams. The salutatorians are Lillie Ana Perez and Tristan Philip Morley.

In case of inclement weather, the graduation will be moved to the gymnasium.
