Bethlehem Lutheran
The sermon topic for Sunday morning worship May 21 at Bethlehem Lutheran is “Be Prepared” based on scripture from I Peter 3: 13-22.
Morning worship is at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Communion will be served at both services.
Interpreted services for the deaf are available the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

Morgan Chapel
Morgan Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 1782 Ripshin Road, Roan Mountain, will host the Toe River Free Will Baptist Ministers Conference Saturday at 9 a.m.
Sunday, at the morning worship service at 11 a.m., special singing will be presented by “Called Out.” Sunday School begins at 10 a.m.
The pastor, the Rev. Greg Whitehead, invites the public to attend.

First United Methodist
“Did You Ask?” is the title of the sermon for Sunday morning worship May 21 at First United Methodist Church of Elizabethton.
The message by the pastor, Rev. Raymond Amos, Sr., is based on Luke 11: 1-13 and is on prayer, specifically asking what is needed to live a faithful life.
Morning worship begins at 9:55 a.m. Sunday School is at 11:20 a.m.
The Sunday evening service is at 6 p.m. in the fellowship as is the Wednesday evening Life Lessons.
The 4:12 Student Ministries, both Junior and Senior High, will meet Sunday from 5:30 to 7:15 p.m. in the 4:12 Ministries House. The Coolagers will meet Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Hut.

First Christian
Minister Michael Klaus will continue his sermon series on “Sound Doctrine” Sunday at morning worship at First Christian Church of Elizabethton. The service will begin at 9:45 a.m.
Scripture will be read by Judy Donley and the Communion Meditation will be given by Paula Manning. Special music will be by Cara and David Huton.
Graduates will be recognized at the Sunday service.
Bible Study classes meet at 11 a.m.
The evening service begins at 6 p.m. with classes for all ages. Minister Klaus will continue his sermon series “Sound Doctrine.”
The Monday Morning Ladies Bible Study led by Patsy Tadlock will meet at 10 a.m.
The Tuesday Morning Prayer Service led by John Smith is at 10 a.m.
The Wednesday evening prayer service and Bible study is at 6 p.m. Adult Choir Practice is at 7 p.m.

First Presbyterian
Morning worship Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Elizabethton will begin at 11 a.m. with the sermon by the Rev. Dr. Matt Fry. His topic is “The Joy of Beffudlement.”
An education time for all ages begins at 9:45 a.m.
Other events of the day include biking and a picnic on the Tweetsie Trail at noon for parents and children. A Gospel Sing and ice cream social will be enjoyed at the church at 2 p.m.
Yoga classes meet Friday at 10 a.m.

VBS planned
at local churches
A number of churches in the city and county are making preparations for Vacation Bible School.
Vacation Bible School at Oak Street Baptist Church is planned June 4-7 from 6 to 8 p.m. each evening for K-fifth grade. Chris Shumate is pastor.
Unaka Baptist will have a VBS Kickoff June 3 from noon until 4 p.m. Vacation Bible School will be June 4-7 with classes from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Stephen Greene is pastor.
Vacation Bible School at Butler Baptist will be June 5-9 with a registration kick-off June 3. Dan Wood is pastor.
Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church will have Vacation Bible School June 5-9 with classes each evening from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The theme of the Bible School is “Into the Deep.” The Rev. Randy Johnson is pastor.
Vacation Bible School at Sinking Creek Baptist Church is June 25-30 with classes daily from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The closing ceremonies will be at 10:50 a.m. in the sanctuary July 2 with refreshments and snacks to follow in the Family Life Center. Jason Hoagland is pastor.
Vacation Bible School at Calvary Baptist Church, Elizabethton, will be June 4-8 with classes from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. The theme of the Bible school is Galactic Starveyors. Dr. Ken Jordan is serving as interim pastor.

Roan Creek
Roan Creek Baptist Church Women’s Mission Union will have a quilt show Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All ladies and quilters are invited to attend. There is no charge.

Sinking Creek
CareConnect Giveaway Day is Saturday at Sinking Creek Baptist Church from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event will be held at the Family Life Center. Items to be given away include clothes, household items, toys, shoes and food.

Memorial Presbyterian
A Youth End of Year Celebration will be enjoyed by Memorial Presbyterian Church youth Wednesday, May 24, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Youth will meet at the church at 3 p.m. and head out to a local park for a field day. The group will head back to the church for supper and Bible study around 5:30 p.m.
This will be the kickoff for the Youth Summer Wednesday Night Supper/Bible Study. The youth will meet each Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. for supper and Bible study.

Milligan Free Will
Milligan Free Will Baptist Church will host Children of the Promise Sunday at the 6 p.m. worship service.
From Rockmart, Ga., Nikki Shaw and her two sons, Eli and Jacob, will provide special music.

Revival will be held Monday through Wednesday at Roan Street Free Will Baptist Church with services each evening at 7 p.m.
