With Elizabethton City Schools’ “Teacher Appreciation Week” coming to a close, community members are encouraged to share their thoughts of teachers within the system.
The school system is inviting community members to share their special memories on social media about Elizabethton teachers who have made the strongest impact in their lives or in the lives of other friends and family members.
The public is encouraged to comment on the Elizabethton City Schools Facebook post “Teacher Appreciation” with a special comment and conclude the sentiment with the hashtag – #ThankECSTeachers. Photos can also be included to showcase that special moment.
“It is Teacher Appreciation Week and we want to make sure that our teachers know how much the community cares about them,” ECS Director of Schools Dr. Corey Gardenhour said. “People can comment on present teachers or teachers they’ve had in Elizabethton in the past.”
Throughout the week, school leaders and parent-teacher organizations (PTOs) at each school have gone out of their way to show teachers how much they are loved and respected.
Elizabethton High School students were able to receive special gifts in their mailboxes, like stationary and snacks along with a Friday luncheon for teachers to go with a casual dress day. Over in the Career and Technical Education Department, teachers were honored with a breakfast.
Elementary schools also got in on the fun, spanning their gratitude to more than just one week.
East Side Elementary provided treats to teachers of the weeks. Room parents also organized lunch being delivered to their children’s teachers each day. The ESE Parent Teacher Advisory Council also provided lunch for teachers.
Lunches were also provided for the staff at T.A. Dugger Junior High School, West Side Elementary, and Harold McCormick.
