Milligan Roundup: Buffaloes softball sweeps past Tennessee Wesleyan

The Milligan softball team are on a four-game winning streak after topping Tennessee Wesleyan in a doubleheader Wednesday.
The sweep of Wesleyan comes after Milligan’s back-to-back wins over Truett-McConnel on Sunday.
The Buffs are currently 10-10 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference and 15-16 overall. Reinhardt leads the league with a 9-1 AAC record, while Union sits in second at 9-3.
Milligan is in sixth behind Point University.
Milligan topped Wesleyan 9-3 and 5-4 during Wednesday’s contest.
In game two, Milligan’s Ashley Arnold, who cleared the bases in game one with a double, had a walk-off single to push the Buffaloes past Wesleyan. Arnold finished game two with two hits and one RBI after two hits and three RBIs in game one.
On the mound in game one, Milligan’s Kimberly Robinson picked up the win as she tossed seven innings with two strikeouts. Milligan’s Kassi Butcher worked five innings in game two as she picked up a win.
The Buffaloes will be back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Ferrum College for some non-conference action.
Baseball
Tuesday, the Milligan baseball team hosted Cumberlands University for a non-conference doubleheader.
When the dust had settled, Cumberland had left town with a sweep (10-0, 9-8).
In game two, Milligan’s Thomas Miller and Nate Clifton each had two hits and a RBI, while teammate Clayton Conner finished with two hits and two RBIs.
The Buffaloes are 6-9 in the AAC with a 16-20 overall tally. With Tuesday’s losses, Milligan is on a three-game skid which could be broken on Saturday as the Buffs host AAC opponent Bluefield College for a doubleheader.
Tennessee Wesleyan leads the AAC with a 12-3 league record.
Women’s Golf
This past Tuesday, the Milligan women’s golf team competed in the Appalachian Athletic Conference Spring Championship at Innsbruck Golf Club in Georgia.
Milligan’s Cassidy Gibson (79-77), Megan Gaylor (79-82), and Michaela Matheson (82-79) all finished in the top five as the Buffaloes finished runner-up overall.
Gibson took fourth, while Gaylor and Matheson tied for fifth.
Milligan’s Sarah Son (81-82) finished in the top 10 as she took ninth.
