Terry Roe Sams Jr., 62, of Elizabethton, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, from Life Care Center of Elizabethton, following an extended illness. Terry was born in Elizabethton on September 22, 1954 to Shirlene Slagle Sams, of North Augusta, S.C., and the late Terry R. Sams Sr.
Terry was a graduate of Augusta College and had worked as an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton.
In addition to his mother, Shirlene Slagle Sams, of North Augusta, S.C., those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Kelli Scott and husband Andy of Johnson City, Tenn., and Courtney Port and husband Nathan of Annandale, Va.; a son, Cody Sams, also of Annandale, Va.; three sisters, Terissa Crites and husband Buddy of North Augusta, S.C., Patrice Crapps of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Kate Bryant and husband Robbie of North Augusta, S.C.; five grandchildren, Ashlyn, Ayva, Mia, Jaxton and Olivia; and three uncles, Gene Sams and wife Sonja and Elmer Sams Jr. and wife Frances, all of Elizabethton, Tenn., and B.J. Sams of Little Rock, Ark. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will hold a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at Calvary Baptist Church in Elizabethton, Tenn., with Dr. David Roberts officiating.
