Lillian Maurine Smith Cutlip, 101, of Hampton, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Hermitage Health Center.
A native of Carter County (Fish Springs Community), she was a daughter of the late Frank and Sallie Main Smith.
Mrs. Cutlip attended Watauga Academy, Butler. She was employed as a LPN at the former Carter County Memorial Hospital for several years. She was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution, a member of the Hampton Eastern Star and a member of Rittertown Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edward Cutlip, December 20, 2000; two daughters, Ranell Orfield and Shonette Tolley; three brothers, Brown, Bud and W.K. Smith; three sisters, Jean Morris, Letta Walker and Virginia Greene; and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Charles and JoAnn Cutlip, Mountain City; one sister, Doris Troutman, Hampton; two sons-in-law, Gene Orfield and Herman Tolley; her grandchildren, Kim Hampton and husband Donnie, Gary Orfield, Keith, Patty and Leon Tolley and wife Rebecca; her great-grandchildren, Logan Hampton, Tracy Guy and husband Jeff, Jackie, Shelby and Conner Orfield; her great-great-grandchildren, Lane and Timber Shaw, R.J., Mitchell and Ezra Tolley, Jeffery, River and Rudy Guy; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Lillian Maurine Smith Cutlip will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, March 31, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Richard Stout and Dr. Mike McNutt officiating. Music will be provided by Joe Simcox. Interment will follow in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Keith and Leon Tolley, Gary Orfield, Lane and Timber Shaw, Louie Greene, Jeff Guy and Garry Smith. The family would like to express a special “Thanks” to the staff of Hermitage Health Center and Caris Health Care. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
