Emma Frances Phillips Wagner

Emma Frances Phillips Wagner, 93, of Elizabethton, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at The Waters of Johnson City. Emma was born in Johnson City to the late W.E. and Elizabeth Harmon Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Reverend A.G. Wagner; a son, Arlin Wagner; one brother, Elbert Phillips; and a sister, Faith Smith.
Emma had worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Johnson City Memorial Hospital and was a member of Unity Fellowship, where she was known as “Mother of Our Church” and was affectionately called “Granny.” She loved word search puzzles and working with flowers.
Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Richard Wagner and wife Patsy, of Johnson City; two daughters, Darlene Stinnett and husband Charles and Karen Wilson and husband Mike, all of Johnson City; eight grandchildren, Greg Wagner, Wes Wagner, Scott Wagner, Matthew Wagner, Carrie Campbell, Regina Miller, Jennifer Cannon and Julie Peterson; 14 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Arthur Phillips and wife Earline, Jackie Phillips and wife Violet, Charles Phillips and wife Phyllis and Jerry Phillips and wife Linda; and two sisters, Nancy Smith and husband Bud and Lynda Cupp and husband Clay. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A service to celebrate the life of Emma Frances Phillips Wagner will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, February 25, at Unity Fellowship Church, 907 South Cedar Avenue, Elizabethton, Tenn., with Pastor Greg Wagner and Shannon Hoilman officiating. The family will receive friends in the church chapel from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, February 26, in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Doug Wagner officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:25 a.m. Sunday.
