Jerry Campbell

Jerry Campbell, 76, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Carter County, Tenn.
Mr. Campbell was a chief jailer and deputy sheriff of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department under former Sheriff George Papantoniou. He was a member of Holly Springs Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Carrie Campbell, and a brother, J.M. Campbell.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 52 years, Grace Ann Campbell, of the home; his loving sons, Bobby Joe Campbell of Elizabethton and Jerry Glen Campbell Jr. “Skip” of Columbia, Tenn.; a brother, Argus Campbell, Johnson City, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Ashley Campbell; and two great-granddaughters, Chloe Waters and Ava Waters. Several nieces, nephews and many special friends also survive.
Private services for Mr. Campbell were held on Sunday, February 5, in the Richardson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Moore’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, c/o Faye Pierce, 101 Jim Deal Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
