Johnny “John” Dale Dooley Sr.

Johnny “John” Dale Dooley Sr., 71, 1008 DeJarnette Street, Elizabethton, passed away Monday, February 6, 2017, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital following an extended illness. He was a son of the late John Perry Dooley and Cassie February Dooley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Harrison and Patsy Morgan.
John was an employee of Crawford Drywall before his retirement due to disability from COPD.
John is survived by his wife, Edith Heaton Dooley, of the home; two sons, Steven “Bucky” Heaton and John D. Dooley Jr. and his wife, Shannon, all of Elizabethton; three daughters, Tina Christie of Elizabethton, Lucy Dooley of Hampton, and Wendy Dooley, of the home; a grandson, Dustin Shelburne of Hampton; four granddaughters, Jessica Gill and Ginger Bailey, both of Elizabethton, Jonna Dooley of Johnson City, and Brittany Frear and husband, Jeremy, of Bluff City; two great-grandsons, Elijah Hughes of Johnson City and Matthew Christy of Bluff City; and a great-grandson due in March 2017.
No formal services are planned at this time, however, family and friends are welcome to visit the home anytime. The family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to the E.R. staff and the ICU staff of Sycamore Shoals Hospital, and especially his nurses, Jeremy and Heather, and also his very good friend and step-granddaughter, Amber Hubbard, for the loving and devoted care given to John during his illness.
