A local credit union is launching a new way for its members to save money in the New Year.
Northeast Community Credit Union will launch the Memory Makers Club campaign in January 2017 as a way to reinforce the importance of making memories and spending quality time with family.
“Memories are those special moments in our lives that we combine together to tell our story,” said Kathy Campbell, President and CEO of Northeast Community Credit Union. “When it comes down to it, all we have is our memories, and we should cherish each and every one of them.”
With the campaign, the credit union is creating a special savings account titled The Memory Makers Club, in which members can deposit funds that are to be used for a special occasion to make a memory.
“We want to encourage all of our members and non-members to come be a part of the Memory Makers Club, and to share your memories with us,” Campbell said.
This club is also used to help the community members begin the habit of saving money, versus depending on a credit card for their fun spending, according to Campbell.
Those who are not members of NCCU can easily join when they create their Memory Makers Club account, said Kelly Roberts, Marketing Manager with the Credit Union.
“There is no fee to join, you just have to open a savings account,” Roberts said, adding the Memory Makers Club account will qualify an individual for membership.
Not only can adults take advantage of the Memory Makers Club, kids and teenagers can start their own account through the program as well.
“We take kids of any age, they just have to have an adult sign onto the account,” Roberts said.
Kids who are wanting to purchase a new phone, computer or even their first vehicle can open a Memory Makers Club account and learn how to save money for the items they are wanting.
“Parents can even start newborn accounts when their baby is born,” said Ashley Rader, Marketing Coordinator for NCCU. “Then it grows with them until they can take it over themselves.”
The Memory Makers Club can be started with a small deposit of $25 and members can deposit any amount they wish at their convenience.
