Draper Gouge Heaton

Draper Gouge Heaton, 95, went to her heavenly home on December 13, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Robert T. Gouge Sr. and Kansas Shortridge Gouge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Heaton; a sister, Dorothy Gouge Brewer; and stepmother, Emma Greer Gouge.
Survivors are her daughter, Dorothy “Dottie” Shifflett and her husband Allen of Green Bay, Va.; brother, Bob Gouge and his wife Ginger of Highland Village, Texas; grandson, Chris Shifflett and his wife Debbie of Green Bay, Va.; two nieces, Sharon Ballew and her husband Robbie of Elizabethton, Tenn.; and Emily Reaser and her husband Chris of New York; three nephews, Robbie, Ethan and Andy Gouge; two great-grandsons, William and Aaron Shifflett; one great-granddaughter, Brittney Shifflett; one great-niece, Jennifer Miller; and many friends. She would like for people to know how she appreciated their love and prayers. She lived most of her life in the Burbank Community of Roan Mountain, Tenn., until her health decreased, and she went to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 22, at the Browning-Duffer Funeral Home.
