Two Carter County residents are facing drug charges after police executed a search warrant on their home this week.
Officers of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested Samual Jack Lyons, 42, and Bonita Deanne Valdes, 41, both of 330 Cash Hollow Road, and charged each of them with possession of Schedule II drugs for resale and maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are sold or manufactured.
During the early morning hours on Tuesday, deputies of the Sheriff’s Office along with the department’s Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) Team executed a search warrant on the home and property at 330 Cash Hollow Road. According to court documents, the search warrant was issued as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation regarding drug activity at the home of Lyons and Valdes.
When officers arrived at the home, they found Valdes in a garage on the property and Lyons inside the home. According to warrants, officers located “a quantity of crystal methamphetamine” and multiple items of drug paraphernalia, including drug ledgers and digital scales.
Both Lyons and Valdes appeared in Carter County General Sessions Court on Tuesday morning where they were arraigned on the charges against them. General Sessions Court Judge Keith Bowers Jr. appointed the Public Defender’s Office to represent Lyons and appointed local attorney Chad Cash to represent Valdes. Bowers reduced the bond for both Lyons and Valdes to $2,500 and scheduled them both to return to court on Dec. 20.
Since his court appearance, Lyons has posted bond and been released from the Carter County Detention Center. Valdes remains held at the jail on her $2,500 bond.
