Thursday, Nov. 24
Fairview United Methodist Church is hosting a free Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The church is located at 878 Highway 81N, about five miles from downtown Jonesborough.
Friday, Nov. 25
The Elizabethton Senior Dance Club will hold a Thanksgiving dance at the Elizabethton Elks Lodge, No. 1847, 1000 N. Sycamore St., from 7 to 10 p.m. The Rambling Rose Band will provide music. Those attending the dance are asked to bring finger foods to share. There is a $6 door charge. The club holds dances the second and fourth Friday nights of each month. All seniors are welcome.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. The Elizabethton Kiwanis Club will sponsor a Chili Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. (prior to the Christmas parade) at First Christian Church, 543 Hattie Ave. The cost is $5. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit the children of Carter County.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. Weigh-in begins at 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. A series of meetings for people who keep honeybees or are interested in them will be held once a month in Elizabethton over the winter. The meetings are meant to be informal get-togethers to share information, tell stories and learn from each other about the bees. There will be some short talks by beekeepers, as well as videos. The meetings will be held at the Elizabethton Public Library, 201 North Sycamore St., from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Parking is on the street, or in the parking lots across the street and behind the library. All are welcomed, but space is limited, so come a little early to get a seat. For more information, call 543-1568.

Alzheimers Tennessee Caregiver Support Group will meet at noon at Sycamore Springs Senior Living Center at 1504 W. Elk Ave. for caregivers of friends or relatives suffering from Alzheimers or another form of dementia. Attending the support group can help people to feel less isolated and to make connections with others facing similar challenges.
