Jeffrey S. Odom, 54, of Hampton, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016, at his residence. Jeff was a native of Carter County and the son of Marlene Hodge Odom of Hampton and the late Thomas Odom.
Jeff graduated from Hampton High School in 1980 and was a member of Sunset Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a former choir director. He was a brick mason by trade and the last four years, he had worked at Northeast State in maintenance.
Jeff was a loving husband, a caring and loving dad, and a great friend to all who knew him. When you think of Jeff, don’t think of him as being weary, only remember him with his smile and his funny sense of humor and his helping hands, when he knew we had a need. We will all miss him dearly.
Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his mother, include his wife of 33 years, Angela Russell Odom, of the home; a son, Thomas Scott Odom and his fiancée, Katie Burchett, both of Butler; a brother, Timothy Odom and wife Debbie of Elizabethton; a sister, Natalie Bachelor and husband Jim of Knoxville; and a sister-in-law, Lenora Cox and husband Danny of Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of Jeffrey S. Odom will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Music will be provided by Jason Gouge, soloist. Active pallbearers will be Kevin Harrison, Ben Harrison, Daniel Arnett, Douglas Odom, Andrew Woodbury and Justin Walsh. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Hughes, Chris Hodges, Larry Townson and all the men at Sunset Free Will Baptist Church. Everyone will meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 1:15 p.m. to go in procession. Family and friends may call at the residence of his sister-in-law, Lenora Cox and her husband Danny, Hampton, at any time.
