Lew and Linda Loffmin will be hosted by Blue River Studio this evening with an artist reception beginning at 6 p.m.

Since opening in downtown Elizabethton, Blue River Studio has seen an uptick in foot traffic for their arts studio.
The newest addition to the business in downtown is hosting an artist reception for Lew and Linda Loffmin on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. to highlight their work and technique in stained glass batik watercolor on rice paper.
“We encourage people to come out and see the artists’ work,” Karen Hitchcock, with Blue River Studio, said.
The duo have had an extensive background while delving into the art world. Lew is previously from the Long Island and Brooklyn areas while growing up. The New Yorker served three stints in Vietnam and is currently retired. While retired, Lew, who added that he enjoys animals, mentions that he took up stained glass artwork during retirement to take up the time during long winter months.
Linda, a native of Elizabethton, pursued the arts during her time in high school and at East Tennessee State University.
The event will also feature live music and refreshments, Karen added.
“The support has been great since we opened,” she said. “We want to be a business for the community that showcases the arts. We want to welcome artists, like Linda and Lew, and offer different classes for the community.”
Blue River Studio offers a variety of art classes during the week for the up-and-coming artists in the area.
The business is located at 122 Armed Forces Drive in Elizabethton. For more information, visit their website at www.khitchglass.com, visit the Blue River Studio Facebook page online or call 423-213-5060.
