Hilda Marie Wilson

Hilda Marie Wilson, 85, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at her residence, following an extended illness. Hilda was born in Carter County to the late Walter P. Carden and Janie Nidiffer Carden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Vernon Wilson, in 2000; two sons, Charles Wilson and William “Bill” Wilson; two brothers, Gilbert Carden and Ray Carden; and a sister, Ola Pearl Williams.
Hilda was a homemaker and a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her neighbors.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Larry Wilson and Lori English of Church Hill, Jerry Wilson and wife Deborah Sloane Wilson, Ruby Taylor and husband Estill, Keith Wilson and wife Debbie, Painter Wilson, Joan Carr and husband Bobby D. Carr, Linda Blevins and husband Keith, all of Elizabethton, and Glen Wilson and wife Sandra of Lewisburg, Tenn.; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Carolyn Greene of Jonesboro, Stanley Carden, Charlotte Taylor, Arthur Carden and Lockett Carden; a daughter-in-law, Sheila Wilson of Elizabethton; very special friends of the family, Jeff and Debbie Stout of Elizabethton; and many nieces and nephews.
A service to honor the life of Mrs. Hilda Marie Wilson will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday, October 8, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. John Vance officiating. Music will be provided by Sherry Peters and Dennis Laws. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service, or at the residence at any time. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 9, in the Blevins Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Stan Wilson, Kyler Wilson, Dustin Wilson, Johnny Wilson, Chris Wilson, Joshua Blevins, Frankie Sells and Steven English. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jamie Taylor, Bobby Alex Carr, Dana Blevins, Tee Blevins, Dennis Hanntz, Ronnie Sells and Billy Sells. Everyone will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Sunday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Leukemia Foundation or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Caris Hospice, Amanda Estep, Hannah and Ginger and especially to her granddaughter, Katie Blevins.
