Burnette Oaks Taylor Hathaway

Burnette Oaks Taylor Hathaway, 86, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Ivy Hall Nursing Home. She was born September 10, 1930 in the Roan Mountain area to the late John Marion and Flossie Whittington Oaks.
Mrs. Hathaway had lived most of her life in Elizabethton and was a graduate of Elizabethton High School. She was a follower of Christ since her baptism in 1945 at West Side Christian Church and had been a member of the church since that time. She was a godly mother that showered her children, grandchildren and family with love and kindness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert B. Taylor and Ralph B. Hathaway, and by two brothers and four sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Kathy Campbell and husband Scott, John “Randy” Taylor and wife Sandra and Connie Davis; five grandchildren, Richard Akers, Brian Taylor, Daniel Bledsoe, Kari Ward and Elaine Arnold; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Johnnie Pinckard and Mary Ellen Parks; several nieces and nephews; and three step-children, Betsy Snyder, Sherri Pierce and Shane Hathaway.
A private graveside service for Burnette Oaks Taylor Hathaway will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Kingsport, with Dr. Greg Key officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Side Christian Church, 1307 West G Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643 in memory of Burnette. The family gives special thanks to the staff at Ivy Hall Nursing Home for the compassionate and loving care provided to Mrs. Hathaway.
