Clarence D. Hicks

Clarence D. Hicks, 73, of Elizabethton, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at Roan Highlands Nursing Center. Clarence was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Joseph Hicks and Rosie Odom Hicks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Shipman.
Clarence had worked as a Radiation Monitor at Nuclear Fuels in Erwin. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of Zion Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sandra Hicks, of the home; two sons, Brad Hicks and Robbie Hicks, both of Elizabethton; one daughter, Mary Lynn Shipman and her husband Glen, Zirconia, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Amber Murphy and her husband Josh, Austin Hicks, Jasmine, Lilly, Mason, Brody and Kashe; two great-grandchildren, Paislee Murphy and Raeden Murphy; and four siblings, Frank Hicks, Birdie Hicks Odem, Mac Hicks and David Homer Hicks. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will be organizing a memorial service to honor the life of Clarence Hicks at Zion Baptist Church. Arrangements are incomplete at this time.
