Carmen Grace “Peggy” Richards

Carmen Grace “Peggy” Richards, 91, of Bluff City, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at her residence.
A native of Bluff City, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Sally Dunn Jenkins. She was a graduate of Bluff City High School.
Peggy along with her husband operated the Richards Service Station in Chinquapin Grove for 40 plus years. She was a member of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Frank B. Richards, who died February 14, 2009; a son, Jimmie Richards; and four brothers, R.B., Clifton, Claude and Kermit Jenkins.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Frank Edward and Cathy Richards, Bluff City; five grandsons; one granddaughter; a brother and sister-in-law, Clyde “Whitey” and Evelyn Jenkins, Bluff City; two sisters-in-law, Geri Jenkins, Chester, Va., and Shirley Jenkins, Bristol, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Carmen Grace “Peggy” Richards will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, August 22, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jamie Ferguson and the Rev. Rusty Verran officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, in the Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, will be Verl Kaylor Jr., Johnny Jenkins, Jack Jenkins, Timmy Smith, Greg Glover, Ed McDuffie, William Barnett, Tom White and Myles White. Honorary pallbearers will be Lenville Sams, Elbert Nichols, Earl Richards, Beryl Lyon, Charles Jenkins, Bruce Jenkins, Charles Townsend, Herb Harmon, Charles, James and Raymie Glover. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Richards to the Building Fund of Chinquapin Grove Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home or at the home anytime. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Jonathan Dixon for all his loving care shown to her. Family and friends will assemble at the cemetery at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday.
