The Summer Concert Series at Roan Mountain State Park returns this weekend with two stellar performances.
On Friday, The Fiddlin’ Carson Peters Band will take the stage at the Park Amphitheater.
Playing since the age of three, Carson Peters is a young musical prodigy who never ceases to amaze. Talk about big talent in a small package. This famous child fiddler has performed at the Grand Ole Opry, played on stage with Ricky Skaggs, and been a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Come get his autograph!
Then on Saturday evening, the mountain will echo with the sound local favorites Thistle Dew.
This Roan Mountain group plays a unique blend of traditional Appalachian and Celtic music which they have dubbed “CELTA-LACHIAN.” This performance is sure to add some local flavor to your visit!
All performances of the Summer Concert Series will be from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Park Amphitheater. In the event of bad weather, the concerts and other performances will be relocated from the amphitheater to Picnic Shelter 3, which is located next to the park campground.
The performances are free and open to the public, not just to those staying in the cabins or campground at the park. Donations to the park will be accepted at the events and will be used to help the park continue to provide free programs and entertainment for visitors.
