Karen Jean Stanley, 58, of Roan Mountain, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Vanderbilt University Hospital, Nashville. She was born April 11, 1958 in Elizabethton, Tenn.
Karen was a 1976 graduate of Cloudland High School. She was employed with Physical Therapy Services, Johnson City. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Roan Mountain, where she sang in the choir, was activity director of the Andrew Sunday School Class, served on the kitchen committee and was involved in Vacation Bible School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Anthony Stanley, in 2008.
Survivors include a daughter, Erica Crouse and husband Billy, Leesville, La.; a son, Derek Stanley, Elizabethton; her parents, J.L. and Jean Troutman, Roan Mountain; her twin sister, Kathy Henson and husband Arland, Roan Mountain; her younger sister, Donna Burleson and Steve Tipton, Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews; and her cat, Kleo.
A service to celebrate the life of Karen Stanley will be conducted at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at First Baptist Church, Roan Mountain, with the Rev. Geren Street officiating. Music will be provided by Mountain Rose. Active pallbearers will be Daniel Ives, Billy Crouse, Arland Henson, Steve Tipton, Drew Henson, Tim Troutman and Derek Stanley. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Roan Mountain. Friends may also visit with the family at the home of her parents, J.L. and Jean Troutman.
