U.S. Forest Service Officials at the Cherokee National Forest announced that all of the recreation sites at Watauga Lake, including Shook Branch Swim Area and Watauga Point Recreation Area, have been reopened.
Significant impacts resulted from the storm that hit the area July 8, forcing the Forest Service to close the area until clean-up could be done.
Crews worked last week and through the weekend to clear debris, trees and large limbs in the various recreation sites. All of the Cherokee National Forest recreation areas at Watauga Lake are now open for public use.
