The Summer Concert Series at Roan Mountain State Park presents HawkBaby. All performances will be from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at the Park Amphitheater. In the event of bad weather, the concerts and other performances will be relocated from the amphitheater to Picnic Shelter 3, which is located next to the park campground.

National Trails Day Hike — Saturday, June 4, 10 a.m. —Join Steve Ricker at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Area for a special guided hike of the Sycamore Shoals walking path and adjacent grounds. Discover the significant history and rich heritage of Sycamore Shoals. Walk through the park along the river to where the Overmountain Men made their historic crossing and wander the Muster Grounds where the militia members gathered before their march to Kings Mountain. Dress appropriately for the weather as we will be taking a casual stroll on the walking path and through the grounds. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Visitor’s Center lobby.
26th Annual Native American Festival — 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Park — A two-day celebration of our Native American heritage! Award-winning dancers, storytellers, artists and scholars gather at the circle to share knowledge and demonstrate their skills. Come and discover Native American arts, music and legends, with an emphasis on the Cherokee culture. Admission charge is $5 for adults, $1 for children 12 and under.

18th Century Eastern Cherokee Style Trade Necklace — From 10 a.m. until noon at Sycamore Shoals State Park. Instructor: Gary Stevens. Cost: $25 includes materials. In this class you will make an early trade necklace using authentic 150 to 200 year old beads. You will also add bone spacers, and/or coyote or buffalo teeth.
