Richard Moore, 61, of Elizabethton, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 9, 2016, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Richard was a native of Carter County and a son of the late Clyde William “Cobb” Moore and Arlena McKinney Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pink and Maude McKinney, and his paternal grandparents, Harry and Dora Moore; a special aunt, Elizabeth Oats; and a special uncle, Bill McKinney.
Richard was the Southeast Regional Manager for Wenner Bakery. He was a member of First Christian Church in Elizabethton, and attended Old Horseshoe Free Will Baptist Church. Richard enjoyed spending time with his family and loved long days at Watauga Lake. He was always willing to help someone, whatever the need, and will be remembered for his caring and giving nature.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Tammy E. Peters Moore, of the home; a brother, Jerry Moore and wife Karen, of Elizabethton; his special nieces, Beth Moore and Christy Lowe, both of Elizabethton; and two outstanding great-nieces, whom he adored, Malana and McKinley Griffey. Many cousins and his extended family also survive.
A service to honor the life of Richard Moore will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 12, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Rev. Norman Loveless and Pastor Steve Harris officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Hardin, Eddie Lewis, Roland Garcia, Steven McKinney, Arvel McKinney, Larry McKinney and Harley Oaks. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. Friday. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 207 North Boone Street, Johnson City, TN 37601, in Richard’s honor.
