Jimmy Dale Collins, 60, of Talbott, Tenn., passed away Monday, April 25, 2016, at St. Thomas Hospital, Nashville.
A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Elisha and Gladys Bentley Collins.
Jimmy was a 1973 graduate of Cloudland High School. He was employed as a truck driver with Yellow Roadway Corporation. He had lived in Talbott for the past 14 years.
Jimmy was a member of Little Doe Free Will Baptist Church, Hampton.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Kathy Whitehead Collins; a son, James Matthew Collins, Dickinson, N.D.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Betty and Barney McKinney, Judy McKinney and Helen and Gerald Roark, all of Hampton; two brothers and one sister-in-law, George Collins and Mike and Sharon Collins, both of Hampton; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Sue Whitehead, Elizabethton; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sidney and Barbara Smith, Donna Whitehead and Michael Whitehead, all of Elizabethton, and Jeffery and Angela Hathaway of Florida. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A funeral service for Jimmy Dale Collins will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at Peace Free Will Baptist Church, 600 S. David Crockett Parkway, Morristown, with the Rev. Chris Dotson and the Rev. Bill Houk officiating. Music will be provided by Rebecca Dotson. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. There will be another service for Jimmy at 1 p.m. Friday at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Shane Waters and the Rev. Ed Gregg officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music will be provided by Lisa Burdick. Active pallbearers for both services will be Donnie Sauceman, David Hilton, Jimmy Greer, Mark Trent, Billy Williams and Bobby Jernigan. Honorary pallbearers will be current and former employees of Yellow Roadway Corporation, Benny Stevens, Tex Cooper, Bennie Larkins and Tony Pierce.
