James Campbell Gass

James Campbell Gass (Jim), 78, of Marietta, GA passed away on March 27, 2016 at the Wellstar Community Hospice following a sudden illness.
Jim was born on Sept. 16, 1937 in Greenville, TN. Jim was the 7th of 12 children born to Charles Hardin Gass and Hazel Casteel Gass.
Jim graduated from Elizabethton High School in Elizabethton, TN. Jim was an athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track and field. Jim was inducted into the Elizabethton High School Hall of Fame as a quarterback.
Jim honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was stationed in Germany.
Jim had a great passion for fishing, RV camping, and spending time with family. Jim was an active member of the St. Paul UMC in Marietta, GA.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hazel Gass, a sister, Mary Christine Jenkins, a brother, Charles Duane, a brother, Everette Lee, a brother, William Ross, a sister, Alice Gass Ramsey, and a brother, Richard Phil.
Jim is survived by wife Jerry Jean Gass of 56 years, a son Bryan, a daughter, Sharon, four grandchildren, three brothers: Lewis, Michael & Bobby Gass, and two sisters: JoAnn Brewer and Lois & husband Bill Schaff. The brothers and sisters are of Elizabethton, TN.
The interment and service will be held at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park Columbarium on March 30, 2016 at 2pm with visitation at 1pm. 1861 Dallas Hwy SW Marietta, GA 30064. (770)919-7100
