Ricky Steve Chambers

Ricky Steve Chambers, 57, of Elizabethton, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center, following a brief illness. Steve was a native of Carter County and a son of Jenny Lou Britt Chambers Ward, of Elizabethton, and the late Harold Dean Chambers. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Mattie Kinley Chambers, and his maternal grandparents, James Van and Myrtle Beryl Hayes Britt.
Steve graduated from Elizabethton High School in 1976 and had worked for Summers Hardware. He was a member of Eastside Christian Church and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying rock climbing and hiking and loved boating.
Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his mother, include his daughter, Casey Chambers, of Johnson City; a brother, Michael Dean Chambers and wife Melinda, of Elizabethton; a half sister, Christy Chambers, of Elizabethton; a step-sister, Michelle Mcree, of Johnson City; his step-mother, Darlene Chambers, of Elizabethton; his step-father, Dub Ward, of Elizabethton; a step-brother, Tim Ward, of Elizabethton; two nieces, Kismit Mullin, of Syracuse, N.Y., and Paiton Chambers, of Elizabethton; and his special caregivers and aunts, Jerri Surber and Becky Harber-Haynes, both of Johnson City, and Rose Armstrong, of Elizabethton. He is also survived by four uncles, Buddy Kenneth Chambers and Ben Armstrong, both of Elizabethton, and Olen Haynes, of Johnson City, and Jackie and Vella Mae Tester.
A service to honor the life of Ricky Steve Chambers will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, March 18, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, with Mr. Charles Fitzsimmons, minister, officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Britt Armstrong, Jack Surber, Jim Surber, Quincy Britt, Jeremy Beaupre, Tim Hughes, Aaron Roberts and Kurt Walters. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his rock climbing pals, his dear friend, Tim Freeze, his co-workers at Summers Hardware and the EHS Graduating Class of 1976. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in procession.
