Police are investigating the burglary of a Hampton home where a large amount of construction supplies and tools were taken from a home.
On Wednesday morning, Carter County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Johnathan Simerly responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a home on Tolley Town Road, where he spoke with the home’s owner Dexter Tolley.
“He stated that someone had broken in a house that he is building and that several items were stolen,” Simerly said, adding a window in the home and been broken and that was likely the point of entry for the burglary. “Mr. Tolley also provided me with a list of 25 items ranging from large power tools to building supplies with a total approximate value of $8,665.”
Simerly contacted CCSO Inv. Harmon Duncan, who then responded to the scene.
In his report on the theft, Duncan notes that a large quantity of conduit was stolen from the porch of the home and several large spools of copper wire taken from inside the residence along with hand tools and platform tools weighing more than 100 pounds.
Duncan said he spoke with Tolley regarding possible suspects.
The investigation into the home burglary is ongoing at this time.
