Luster McKinney Stevens

Luster McKinney Stevens, 91, Hampton, passed away Monday, January 25, 2016, at Hermitage Health Center.
She was born in Carter County to the late Wilson and Bell Hill McKinney. She lived her entire life on Brown’s Branch Road.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Conley Jerome Stevens Sr.; two grandchildren, Connie Bowers and Melissa Bowers; three sons-in-law, Terry Hill, Billy Dan Harrell and Randy McKinney; and two brothers, Bruce McKinney and Jack McKinney.
Luster was a lifetime member of Oak Hill Free Will Baptist Church and the oldest member of the church. She loved working in her flowers and visits from her children and grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory two sons and daughters-in-law, Bud and Pat Stevens, Unicoi, and Bruce and Shirley Stevens, Hampton; six daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Willard Bowers, Ann Hill, Karen Stevens and Brenda Harrell, all of Elizabethton, Loretta McKinney and June McKinney, Hampton; 10 grandchildren, Aaron and Polly Bowers, Michael and Brandy Hill, Jamie and Marti McKinney, Christopher and Tracy Stevens, Brian and Tonya Stevens, Teresa and Greg Mathes, Sheri and Ken Trivette, Tammy Hill, Todd McKinney and Tina and John Glover; 11 great-grandchildren, Kendra, Andrew, Brooke, Conley, Danielle, Marcus, Jake, Katie, Daniel, Jagger and Kristin; and four great-great-grandchildren, Ashton, Parker, Carmindy and Paisley.
Funeral services for Luster McKinney Stevens will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, January 28, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Carl Grindstaff and the Rev. Jack Lyons officiating. Music will be provided by Katie McKinney and Penny Bowers. The graveside service and interment will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 29, in the Stevens Cemetery, Rittertown Road, Hampton, with the Rev. Ted Lewis officiating. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and a great-grandson, Jacob Hill. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the entire staff of Hermitage Health Center, Caris Health Care and all the churches for their support during her illness. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Stevens to the Alzheimer’s Association, 207 N. Boone Street #25, Johnson City, TN 37604. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.
