A lack of precipitation in freezing temperatures stood no chance at putting a damper on one local family’s fun — they were determined to have snow. Neighbors driving by returned for a second and third glance to try to identify how only one yard was covered with snow.
Don Iverson, owner of Banner Elk Shirt Company in North Carolina, created a home-made snow blower in about three or four days, which delighted his clients and family.
“At our ski shop in Banner Elk, people wanted to see snow, but we didn’t have any, so we decided to make snow,” he explained.
With a pressure washer, air compressor and plumbing parts, he built a snow blower that easily winterized his store front and then his daughter’s front lawn in Lynn Valley.
“I left at 6 a.m. this morning to get it set up for my grandson,” said Iverson.
Jackson Valentine, 8, a student at East Side Elementary, eagerly returned the gift of snow to his grandfather in the form of snowballs.
Don said the most difficult part of making the snow was getting it running before everything froze. Once it was blowing, he made enough for Jackson and his friends to enjoy a snow party on their day off of school Monday.
