Edith Chambers Tolley, 94, of Piney Flats, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Johnson City Medical Center.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Jake and Mary Birchfield Chambers. She had lived a number of years in Piney Flats.
Mrs. Tolley was a homemaker. She was of the Free Will Baptist Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Earl Tolley; a son, Roy Glenn Tolley Sr.; a daughter, Peggy Willis; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Royston, Piney Flats; a son, James Dean Tolley, Piney Flats; 11 grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Shelby Blevins; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her special friends, Bill and Lenis Baker and Kenny and Kathy Lethcoe; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Edith Chambers Tolley will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jackie Bradley and the Rev. Steve Hilman officiating. Music will be provided by Kenny and Kathy Lethcoe. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, in the Edgefield United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, will be Tony Mullins, Jason Hershberger, Brian Milhorn, Jerry Blevins, Bob Morton, Bud Blevins, Jackie Hughes and Dexter Perkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Chambers, Robert Chambers, Dr. Joe Reed, Chad Tolley, Wesley Tolley and Colby Morrell. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday to go to the cemetery.
