Samuel Johnson Jr., born December 30, 1932, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2015, at Westmoreland Health and Rehab Center in Knoxville.
Mr. Johnson attended Maryville First United Methodist Church, graduated from Elizabethton High School, Class of 1950, and from East Tennessee State College in 1960. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, worked for the Aluminum Company of America more than 31 years and was a member of the ALCOA 25 Year Service Club.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Johnson Sr.; mother, Lilly Freeman Johnson; brother, Roy E. Johnson; sister, Lizzie Mae Dickson; and sister, Ruth Zilletti.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Julia Matlock Johnson; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Dwayne Choate of Franklin, Tenn., and Karen and Donny Davis of Brentwood, Tenn.; granddaughters, Madison Davis, Amelia Davis and Kennedy Davis; grandson, Tyler Davis; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Bruce Sparks of Spruce Pine, N.C., and Sue and Ray Garrison of Kingsport, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Catherine Nance officiating. The interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Lenoir City. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Maryville First United Methodist Church, 804 Montvale Station Road, Maryville, TN 37803.
