Rolling off ten straight wins after dropping their first contest of the season to Science Hill lifted several eyebrows Elizabethton’s way as the Mountain Eight Conference doled out its post-season recognition in football for the 2015 season.

Shawn Witten was tabbed as the conference Coach of the Year for the standout work he did with his team. Elizabethton also saw Hunter Tyree named the conference offensive player of the year after completing over 70 percent of his passes and surpassing the 1,700-yard mark for the season.

Sophomore Cameron Coleman was recognized for his defensive fortitude being named the Lineman of the Year.

The top newcomer of the season was freshman Corey Russell who did just about a little of everything for the Cyclones during the season.

Members of the All-Conference team from Elizabethton were Jalen Smith, Jeremiah Turner, Drew Bowers, Preston Whitehead, Mark Chesser, Kaleb Whitehead, Johnny Ray Woodby, Alex Norwood and Russell Carter.

Five Cyclones were named Honorable Mention including Jacob Turner, Conner Johnson, Chandlor Mullins, Luke White, and Scotty Oliver.

The Longhorns of Johnson County also saw seven players recognized as All Conference. Those include Cody Bailie, Jake Bower, Payton Fenner, Bud Icenhour, Samuel Icenhour, Dakota Wright and Nevada Woodard.

Johnson County had five honorable mention players in Nathan Arnold, Benji Bower, Gage Hampton, Hayden Osborne, and Alec Tester.

Elizabethton and Johnson County also had two players named to the Academic All-Region team as the Cyclones Drew Bowers and Longhorn Alex Tressler were recognized for their work in the classroom.
