James Sherman Taylor

James Sherman Taylor, 78, of Elizabethton, formerly of Bluff City, Tenn., died peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by his children. James was born in Carter County on October 3, 1937 to the late Roy E. Taylor and Edna Williams Taylor.
James retired as a self-employed carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Elizabethton. He was a United States Army veteran, having service in the Korean Conflict.
James enjoyed walking and outdoor activities.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, April Strong and her significant other, Joey Fleenor, of Kingsport; his son, Chadrick Sherman Taylor and his significant other, Lisa Sadeghi, of Woodbridge, Va.; the mother of his children, Fonda Eldreth, of Bristol, Va.; two grandchildren, Shane Redman and wife Emily, of Kingsport, and Lydia Redman, of Eureka, Calif.; and three great-grandchildren, Aly Grace Redman, James Taylor Redman and Isaac Shane Redman, all of Kingsport.
A graveside service to honor the life of Mr. James Sherman Taylor will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, November 23, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with Rev. Travis Tyler officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the Carter County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at noon Monday to go in procession. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers, may make donations to National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, 333-1/2 Pennsylvania Avenue SE, Washington, DC 20003-1148; or to the charity of your choice in honor of James.
