Ray N. Hill

Ray N. Hill, 94, of Elizabethton, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Wexford County, Mich., he was a son of the late Earl and Evaline Shannon Hill.
Ray served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He moved to Los Angeles where he retired from Boeing Aircraft. He had lived in Elizabethton for over 20 years. He was a member of the VFW in Michigan and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #49, Elizabethton. He was also a member of the Elizabethton Senior Citizens.
Ray loved his family, loved to travel, go dancing and fishing. He was of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Hill; a son, Terry E. Hill; two sisters; three brothers; and a step-daughter, Cindy Stiltner.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Willia “Tootsie” Sams Hill; two sons, Gale H. Hill and wife Cherly, Rio Linda, Calif., and Neil T. Hill, Gardnerville, Nev.; several grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and three step-daughters, Mary Wilkerson, Rita McDonald and Tammy Fair. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Ray N. Hill will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, November 16, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Eric Heaton and the Rev. Steve Burleson officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Tuesday, will be Keith Pleasant, Eddie Sams, Tom Sams, Albert Teilhet, Dick Chapman, Tanner Stiltner, Michael Hill and Danny Blevins. Honorary pallbearers will be Carmon Dugger, Hazen Street, Ray Smith, Leon Franklin, family and friends. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence. Military Honors will be provided by the Carter County Honor Guard.
