Wanda Lucille Townsend Lyons

Wanda Lucille Townsend Lyons, 83, of Elizabethton, went home to be with her Lord, Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Johnson City Medical Center after an extended illness.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Azor Vestal and Melinda Austin Townsend.
Mrs. Lyons was employed for a number of years at Watson’s of Elizabethton. She was a member of West Side Christian Church. One of her favorite hobbies was reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Albert F. Lyons, who died January 19, 2011; three sisters, Merle Wilson, Mary Oaks and Ruth Peters; and four brothers, Rev. John Townsend, Walter Townsend, Carl Townsend and Leonard Townsend.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and James Barnes, Elizabethton; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Zenobia Lyons, Elizabethton; four grandchildren, Ashley Lyons, Christopher Lyons, Katrina Moore and Eric Moore; three great-grandchildren, Lillian Moore, Carson Lyons and Charlie Delp; and a sister, Stella Potter, Cincinnati, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Wanda Lucille Townsend Lyons will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, October 18, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Greg Key, minister, officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be her church family. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff and special friends of Broadmore Assisted Living, Johnson City, for all the love shown to our mother. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Funeral Chapel. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Zenobia Lyons, 1210 Burgie Street, Elizabethton.
