Grace Baptist Church’s grief recovery seminar and support group will meet weekly in Classroom B at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. Grief Share video sessions feature nationally recognized experts on grief recovery topics. Seminar sessions include “Living With Grief,” “The Journey of Grief,” “The Effects of Grief,” “Why?” and “Stuck in Grief.” Grief Share is co-sponsored by Sycamore Shoals Hospital Spiritual Care Department. The sessions are led by Grace Baptist Pastor Travis Tyler.

Senior Services at Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St., will offer a six-week Beginning Sign Language class from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays starting Sept. 15. Learning sign language is a useful communication skill that stimulates the brain. Instructor Carol Harmon is nationally certified through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf.

The Milligan Orchestra, under the direction of Professor of Music Dr. Kellie Brown, will highlight music of the Italian Baroque masters and a vast array of Italian-themed offerings in their fall concert, “Viva Italia!,” on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Chapel.
Presenting the fun-loving duet “Buffo Di Due Gatti” (“Humorous Duet for Two Cats”) by Rossini, music majors Laura Mixon, senior, and Riley Prickett, junior, are featured guest soloists with the orchestra. The second half of the concert features a large group of exceptional young violin students from the region performing music by Vivaldi.

Art exhibition will feature the works of Milligan faculty members. Opening reception at 11 a.m. Oct. 24. Alice Anthony, Nick Blosser and Art Brown have a combined 80 years of experience creating art. Anthony’s photography will focus on Elvis fans at Graceland. Blosser will showcase paintings in watercolor and egg tempera. Brown will exhibit his printmaking work. Cost: FREE.

Classmates will attend the school’s homecoming game Oct. 16, followed by a meet and greet at Beef O’Brady’s, where there will be hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Tickets for the game will be purchased in advance and be waiting for guests to pick up at the entrance to Citizens Bank Stadium. On Oct. 17, the class will meet at Doubletree Hotel in Johnsoin City. Hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar will be served 6-7 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. Hotel rooms are available at $79 per night.
