Wayne L. Fair

Wayne L. Fair, Chief Warrant Officer 3 (Ret.) 79, retired from the U.S. Army after 18 years of service. He served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. During his military career, he received numerous recognitions, including the Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, the Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. Wayne and his wife Joni were instrumental in founding the Sangre de Cristo Hospice. Wayne was born Oct. 2, 1935, in Elizabethton, Tenn., and passed away September 7, 2015, in Pueblo, Colo.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joni Fair; children, Michael (Mary Jo) Fair of Elizabethton, Tenn., and Shana Fair of Pueblo West; brother, Grady (Bo) Fair of Elizabethton, Tenn.; brother-in-law, David (Susan) Morley; grandchildren, Wesley Shultis and Zachary (Tarah) Turpin; step-grandson, Tyler Gavigan; great-grandchildren, Kaison, Elise and Orion; and special great-granddaughter, Alyssa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Ida Fair; sister, Carolyn Runnion; and brother, Dana Fair.
There will be no viewing. There will be a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 12, at Temple Baptist Church in Pueblo, Colo., concluding with full military honors.
