Elmer Ray Roberts

Elmer Ray Roberts, 72, of Unicoi, fought a good fight, finished his course, kept the faith and went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 21, 2015, from Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
Elmer was born in Carter County on June 27, 1942, a son of the late Timothy and Missouri McKinney Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Farelene “Abby” Roberts, and by three brothers and two sisters.
Elmer was a member of First Freewill Baptist of Limestone Cove Church, where he loved and served the Lord. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran and past Master of the Roan Mountain Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Roberts, of the home; a son, Scott Roberts and wife Cindy, Mountain City; two grandchildren, Casey Harris, Mountain City, and Kristen Roberts, Kingsport; three great-grandchildren, Bentley, Finn and Evan; two stepchildren, Lisa Bryant and husband Kevin, and Jason Chambers; four stepgrandchildren, Kilby, Kaitlyn, Emily and Becky; and one sister, Wanda Ostrander and husband Gary of California.
A celebration of life and funeral services for Elmer Ray Roberts will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at First Freewill Baptist Church of Limestone Cove with Rev. J.C. Sheets, Rev. Norm Loveless and Rev. Henry Berry officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service, or at the residence at anytime. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, in the Rittertown Baptist Church Cemetery in Hampton. Active pallbearers will be Charley Arnette, Mike Eckman, Jeremiah Harris, Ricky Hyder, Ray Snead and Johnny Vance.
