Vicie E. Hilman Birchfield

Vicie E. Hilman Birchfield, 89, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the residence of Otis and Patsy Griffey of Butler.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late John and Biddie Hill Hilman of Roan Mountain.
Mrs. Birchfield worked at Magnavox for 10 years and was a caregiver for several years. She was a member of Sinking Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Birchfield; a son, Ronnie Birchfield; a grandson, Jerry Ray Birchfield; and a special son-in-law, Perry Bradford.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Bradford, Elizabethton, and a special daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Otis Griffey, Butler; two sons, J.D. Birchfield, of the home, and Jack and Deb Birchfield, Elizabethton; her grandchildren, Lori, Becky, Ronnie and Terry; her great-grandchildren, Brittany and Danielle Helmick, Seth Clawson, Libby Buchanan, Isabell and Joshua Ray; her 5th Generation great-great-great-granddaughter, Kenzie “Ray Ann Helmick “Red Bird”; two wonderful men in her life, Dennis Helmick Jr. and Travis Willens; her special cousins, Stanley and Mozella Whittington, Elizabethton, Phyllis Walker and Lou Calloway; a special cousin, who she thought of as a daughter, Kathy Stout; and her special friends, John and Margaret Campbell, Butler, and Floyd and Frances Bradford, Elizabethton.
Funeral services for Vicie E. Hilman Birchfield will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 18, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Stevie Guinn and the Rev. Roy Cooper officiating. Music will be provided by The Fork Mountain Quartet. Graveside services and interment will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Dennis Helmick Jr., Travis Willens, Tony Griffey, Butch Calloway, Rebecca Willens and Lori Helmick. Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Griffey, Stanley Whittington, Bill Stout, Earl Lacey and Marty Buchanan. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to Dr. Rachel Monderer and staff and Dr. Hamati, also to the Johnson County Home Health, Amanda and Kelly. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence of a daughter, Sue Bradford, Elizabethton.
