An Elizabethton Police Department K9 officer suffered a minor injury during a training exercise on Friday, May 15.
EPD Cpl. Sarah Ellison was working with K9 Kero at the old Carter County Memorial Hospital with obedience training.
During the training, K9 Kero was rewarded with a ball. When Kero retrieved it and returned it to Ellison, she noticed blood on the ball.
Ellison inspected Kero’s mouth and found his upper right canine tooth was broken and the gum was bleeding. K9 Kero was seen by a dentist the next day and received treatment for his broken tooth.
