Elizabethton Krystal Burgers closed doors Monday

It became “krystal” clear on Monday that Elizabethton now has one less fast food restaurant.
Visitors to Krystal Burgers, 421 W. Elk Ave., were greeted by paper signs in the windows and a marquee sign stating “the store is now closed.” While signage invited customers to visit the Johnson City location, the inside of the restaurant appeared unchanged. However, the menu pictures had been removed from the drive-thru sign, and were replaced with a “Closed” sign.
Brittany Hartley, manager of the Johnson City Krystal, said they were not aware of the Elizabethton closing until Monday morning when the restaurant’s CEO visited to inform them of the change. The reason for the closure is still a mystery.
“We don’t know why they closed,” Hartley said. “We just found out Monday morning that they did. We have no idea why.”
Calls to the Krystal Headquarters yielded little information. A spokesperson said some restaurants were being closed for remodeling, but that the Elizabethton restaurant was not on the list.
Jack Wolfe, of Impact Public Relations, contacted the Elizabethton Star on behalf of Krystal, and said he would gather and provide more information and return a call. However Wolfe had yet to respond at presstime.
