Larry Maupin, 72, of Elizabethton, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Washington County and was a son of the late George and Katherine Whaley Maupin. He had lived most of his life in Carter County.
Mr. Maupin had served in the Tennessee National Guard for several years. He was a construction worker, and for the past 10 years was a paper carrier for the Johnson City Press. He was a member of Harbor Light Baptist Church. He loved to fish and hunt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Maupin.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margie Howell Maupin; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Tina Maupin, Chuckey, and Steven and Angela Maupin, Elizabethton; a daughter, Tammy McKinley, Elizabethton; eight grandchildren, Savannah Maupin, Lillian Maupin, Levi Maupin, Noah Maupin, Gabriel Maupin, Elizabeth Ann Maupin, Emile McKinley and Alyssa McKinley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Brenda Maupin, Johnson City, and Eufus and Pansy Maupin, Chuckey; a sister, Sue Holland, Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Larry Maupin will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Montgomery officiating. Music will be provided by Cody Montgomery, soloist, and Seth Montgomery, pianist. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 9, at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Jonesborough. Active pallbearers will be Larry, Steven, Daniel and Gabriel Maupin, J.D. Smith and Tim Higgins. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to all the friends who visited with Larry and the many prayers on his behalf. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence.
