John N. Nidiffer

John N. Nidiffer, 81, of Jonesborough, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at his residence, following a brief illness. John was born in Carter County, a son of the late Alfred and Suebird Nidiffer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Nidiffer was retired from Inland Steel of East Chicago, Ind., as a Rigger Foreman. He was of the Baptist faith and loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed nature. He was a United States Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Caroline Coffee Nidiffer, of the home; a daughter, Sylvia Jeffery and husband Wendell, Downingtown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Stephen Jeffery and wife Chrissy, Bear, Del., Dawn Alexander and husband Jeff, Wilmington, Del., and Richard Jeffery and wife Michele, Wilmington, Del.; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to honor the life of John N. Nidiffer will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 29, in the Caldwell Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gary Roe officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Ritchie. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 2 p.m. Sunday to go in procession. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, prior to the graveside service.
