Robert G. “Rob” Greer

Robert G. “Rob” Greer, 80, of Elizabethton, passed away at his home on Sunday, March 8, 2015, following a brief illness. He was the son of the late Tom and Lula Dowell Greer and was born in Johnson County. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Evelyn Taylor and Ethel Taylor, and his friend and partner, Phyllis Watson Dugger.
Mr. Greer was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post #2166. He was a mechanic, retired from the School Bus Garage of the Carter County School System, and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Grindstaff and her husband, Bob, Elizabethton; a sister, Mae Musick, Bristol, Tenn.; three brothers-in-law, Freeman Taylor, Leroy Taylor and Bud Hambrick, all of Elizabethton; a sister-in-law, Bessie Hambrick, Elizabethton; and his special friends, Jim Greenwell, Freda Bradshaw and Louise Taylor, all of Elizabethton.
The committal and entombment service for Mr. Greer will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Sunset Memorial Park in Mountain City, Tenn., with Rev. Byran Smith officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet the family at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday.
